This Is Not a Government Office. This privately run reference site cannot obtain or correct criminal records, perform official background checks, or receive an expunction filing. Contact the responsible government custodian for those services.
Need an Official Record?
Kaufman County divides criminal-record custody by the type and stage of the matter. Use the matching official route:
- Felony court files: contact the Kaufman County District Clerk, custodian of District Court records, at the Kaufman County Justice Center, 1902 E US Highway 175, Kaufman, Texas 75142; call the county switchboard at 469-376-4100 for current counter directions
- Class A and B misdemeanor files: contact the Kaufman County Clerk Court Department at the same Justice Center address; inspection of publicly available maintained court records is free, while copies and certifications carry published fees
- Arrest, booking, and jail information: contact the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and jail at 1900 E US-175, Kaufman, Texas 75142, 972-932-4337, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; mail may be sent to Drawer 849, Kaufman, Texas 75142
- Texas criminal-history records: use the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division for the public conviction and deferred-adjudication search or an official fingerprint self-review
- Incident and police reports: ask the law-enforcement agency whose officer created the report; a city police report stays with that city even if the county jail holds the booking
- Expunction and nondisclosure filings: confirm the proper filing route with the Kaufman County District Clerk; these are distinct Texas remedies, and this site cannot determine eligibility
The Sheriff Form Center is the online request starting point for Sheriff's Office records. Court searches, inspection, and copies should instead begin with the County Clerk Searches and Copies instructions for misdemeanor files or the District Clerk's record-custody office for felony files. Both clerks are separate from the Sheriff, even though the Justice Center and jail stand next to one another on US 175.
