Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless a valid legal duty requires disclosure to someone else.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical information each time a visitor loads a page:
- The date and time of each page view
- Your device category and operating system
- The referring website, when one is available
- Your browser type and version
- The IP address used by your device
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a visitor's device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages receive visits and where users leave. You can block cookies through browser settings, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Finding and resolving performance or technical problems
- Routing search requests to the selected outside provider
- Operating the site and improving page speed and reliability
- Understanding which information visitors use most
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Kaufman County Criminal History does not host, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, the court clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or personal records about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a tool is governed by that provider's privacy policy, including its retention and sharing rules. We do not control those practices. Read the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Kaufman County offices, Texas agencies, court systems, legal-aid resources, or outside search tools. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may track activity across websites to select targeted ads. That collection occurs through the provider's systems and policies.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to these limited recipients:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies when disclosure is compelled by a valid legal order
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Advertising networks that serve ads on these pages
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tools
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard safeguards for information under our control. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, however, so we cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary by residence and by the kind of information involved. In Texas, the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs records held by public bodies, while Government Code sections 411.083 and 411.135 address criminal-history confidentiality and authorized public dissemination. Those laws govern official custodians, not a private request to this site. At a minimum, you may:
- Ask us to delete personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask what personal information we retain about you
- Object to certain processing where that option applies
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. Any revision will be posted here with a new effective date, so this page is the current statement of our practices.
Effective date: August 9, 2026
